Damarri Mathis will miss a second consecutive season due to injury.
After joining the Cleveland Browns in July, Mathis was poised to serve as the team's third cornerback this season before suffering a non-contact knee injury on Aug. 11. Cleveland placed him on season-ending injured reserve the same day.
It's a devastating blow for Mathis, who suffered a torn ACL in his first practice with the Carolina Panthers last summer after being claimed off waivers from the Denver Broncos . Now, after missing the entire 2025 season, Mathis will also miss the 2026 campaign.
The 27-year-old cornerback was originally picked by the Broncos in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL draft out of Pittsburgh. He totaled 103 tackles and nine pass breakups in 43 career games (18 starts) in Denver.
