Streamer Ludwig Ahgren has abandoned his position as one of the top streamers on Twitch to don a blonde wig and take up his new calling as an NPC in the Chinese video game Road To Empress II . Earlier this week, the game announced that Ludwig would appear in the game posting pictures of him all done up as an envoy from the imaginary Kingdom of Fuling and the internet is affectionately clowning him hard.
Special Update Ludwig from the Kingdom of Fuling has arrived in Sheng'an today! Will he be granted a taste of the Empress's osmanthus soup? The choice is yours!

If his appearance isn't hilarious enough, there's a clip going around showing him speaking in Chinese. According to comments on social media, his pronunciation is laughably terrible which makes sense since L udwig probably doesn't speak the language fluently and his character apparently is from a distant kingdom who doesn't know the language very well.

While this seems random, Ludwig streamed the first game in the series, Road to Empress and had a great time . When the developers left a message thanking him for playing, Ludwig shot his shot, asking to be put in future content, and we now have pictures of him in a bad shake n' go wig to show for it.

Ludwig is being a good sport about the whole thing, posting pictures of his time on set and asking Wikipedia to make one of them his official portrait on the site. But all this good-natured ribbing is seriously bumming me out.

I am an absolute fiend for Chinese historical dramas. You put a bunch of women in some incredible period costumes, add a dash of harem drama, and I'm there. I've been on a desperate search for a video game that recreates that dynamic. When I discovered Road To Empress II , I thought I'd finally found the game I'd been searching for only to be horribly disappointed to learn the game is riddled with AI-slop . All I want is a game where I can politically plot, survive assassination attempts from rival concubines, and ascend the ranks of the harem until I'm the HBIC ruling the harem and the emperor's heart. Is it too much to ask for something like that unmarred by the impudent touch of gen-AI? If so, I guess I can settle for enjoying Ludwig reciting a Chinese tongue twister.
