The Vikings quarterback battle did not even make it to the first preseason game. After weeks of build-up, OTAs, and training camp practices, we have now arrived at a decision on the starter by head coach Kevin O'Connell.
On Tuesday, the Minnesota Vikings named Kyler Murray as their starting quarterback for the start of the regular season. ESPN's Adam Schefter was the first to report the news of the decision.
With Murray being named the starter, that leaves McCarthy as the odd man out. But if you ask McCarthy, he seems to be happy in Minnesota despite the team going with Murray. He told the media , "This is the place I want to be. And I love every single person in this building. I love the state. I love the fan base and I'm going to continue to just do whatever I can for this team and this organization."
This was a veteran answer from a young quarterback. For McCarthy, wanting to stay in Minnesota may be his best bet to get his career back on track despite this temporary setback.
