In Baby Mama , Amy Poehler was the crazy one, Tina Fey the responsible one. In Sisters , Fey was the crazy one and Poehler was the more responsible one. Now we have Brothers , and while it’s too soon to say decisively, it looks like Matthew McConaughey is the more responsible one and Woody Harrelson is the reckless cad. Though neither of these men screams “competent adult” the way a Tina Fey character might, we suppose McConaughey is the one with potential political aspirations , so he’s probably not going to be the one not understanding women and getting a beer bottle smashed over his head. But who’s to say what’ll happen in the show!
We do know that McConaughey’s policial ambitions will play a part in the show, according to a plot synopsis. McConaughey and Harrelson’s real-life relationship—they discovered they might actually be related a few years ago—is also front and center here. However, we feel we need to be clear that Holland Taylor is not actually McConaughey’s mother—she just plays it on TV. Brothers is ultimately described as a “heartfelt, chaotic, and wildly funny story about friendship, family, fame, and the messy line between myth and reality,” and it premieres on Apple TV on September 23.
