The Cincinnati Bengals have a big sense of urgency around them this offseason, driven majorly by public comments from Joe Burrow .
But the urgency won’t apply to Burrow and the starters during Friday night’s preseason finale against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Bengals head coach Zac Taylor said that starters won’t play against the Eagles, which opens things up for the backups and overall depth chart fighting for final roster spots to get one last chance on Friday night.
The Bengals have many notable roster bubble players to track during the event, including names like Charlie Jones and Josh Newton. Bengals trade candidates potentially include someone like Kris Jenkins.
In other words, the urgency will very much be ramped up Friday night, even without starters on the field. Bengals players will audition not just for the final roster, but for the entire NFL as they get another chance to put up film for teams.
