As revealed by head coach Dave Canales this past Sunday, the Carolina Panthers are fielding their starters for this afternoon's preseason matchup against the Buffalo Bills . But that doesn't mean every starter is suiting up.
According to Joe Person of The Athletic, the following Panthers are not expected to play today:
QB Haynes King
RB Chuba Hubbard
G Damien Lewis
G Robert Hunt
DL Derrick Brown
OLB Pat Jones II
Hubbard was the latest Panther to sustain a summer setback. Per Canales, the sixth-year rusher is dealing with a "legit" hamstring injury , and will be evaluated on a week-to-week basis.
2024 second-round pick Jonathon Brooks, who is set to appear in the first preseason game of his NFL career, will get the start out of the backfield in place of Hubbard.
King (hamstring), Lewis (calf), Hunt (back), Brown (knee) and Jones (illness) have also been limited leading up to the weekend.
