Spider-Man: Brand New Day nabbed an additional $145 million for Sony Pictures this weekend, landing the third-biggest second weekend in box office history, according to Variety . It trails behind other pre-pandemic heavy hitters like Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Avengers: Endgame . Only five other movies have netted over $100 million in their second weekends.
That brings Spider-Man’s latest hull to a whopping $655 million domestically and is already well on its way to hitting a $2 billion dollar mark globally with a cool $1.67 billion so far. The film surpassed the $1 billion mark within its first week of release. Not too shabby for Tom Holland’s fourth Spider-Man outing. If the pace keeps up, Spider-Man: Brand New Day may break even more records.
Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey is still packing them into theaters much larger than a Trojan Horse, bringing another $31.5 million back home to Universal Pictures in its fourth weekend. The film is within a stone’s throw of the $500 million domestic box office mark, and passed the $1 billion dollar milestone globally. The Odyssey is now Nolan’s highest-grossing film, surpassing his two entries in the Batman franchise. This weekend also saw The Odyssey best Avatar to become Imax’s highest-grossing movie.
Outside of heroic epics, both ancient and modern, two new comedy entries debuted under expectations. The sex Purge movie One Night Only stumbled into third place at the box office with a modest $5.7 million arrival. Meanwhile, Super Troopers 3 followed with a tepid $4 million reception. The family-friendly trio of Toy Story 5 , Minions & Monsters , and Moana are holding steady for the younger crowd, while the AI-sprinkled Ice Cream Man scooped up $2 million from the horror hounds.
Olivia Wilde’s The Invite held onto the top ten at the ninth slot, bringing A24’s surprise sex comedy to just over $24 million. Oscilloscope’s perennial fan favorite CatVideoFest 2026 clawed into the top ten with half a million for its debut. Limited releases like A24’s Tony and Mubi’s Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma also made splashy debuts this weekend on just a handful of screens, and will expand to more theaters in the following weeks.
