One of Chargers' games lands on PFF's 10 games that will define 2026
The Chargers are entering a crucial 2026 season.
Many expect the Chargers to take the next step with a revamped team and new coordinators on both sides of the ball. Los Angeles finally has a legitimate chance to win the AFC West, something that has not been done in nearly two decades.
The Chargers are expected to be in the thick of the division alongside their arch-rivals, the Broncos . The battles between those two franchises are more often than not epic, and that is expected to be no different in 2026.
So much so that Pro Football Focus ranked their Week 18 matchup as one of the ten games in 2026 expected to define the season.
Bradley Locker of PFF included the divisonal showdown which could have high stakes for the division on his list.
"The best two teams in last year’s AFC West look to stay at the top despite the sleeping giant Chiefs looming. Even if this game isn’t for the division crown, it should carry a magnitude for the wild-card race at minimum."
Last season, the Chargers and Broncos split their season series, 1-1, each taking care of business in front of their home fans.
The Chargers finished three games back of the Broncos in the division race last season. As for this upcoming season, Los Angeles has higher odds to win the AFC West. According to DraftKings , the Chargers have +190 odds to win the division.
Those odds are the second-highest, behind only the Chiefs at +160. The Broncos are third on that list with +225 odds.
While the Chiefs have yet to lose the division with a healthy Patrick Mahomes on their side, there's a legitimate chance that the tide changes in 2026.
The Chargers and Broncos are much younger and could be much more dynamic over the course of the season, which leads many to believe the Week 18 matchup could be for all the marbles.
