NY Mets vs Brewers live updates, score and analysis of Thursday game
NEW YORK — The Mets' chance at securing a series win over the best team in Major League Baseball will run through arguably the best pitcher in baseball on Thursday night.
As the Mets look to take two out of three games from the Brewers, they will face NL Cy Young frontrunner Jacob Misiorowski in the series finale at 7:10 p.m. on Thursday at Citi Field.
The 24-year-old Misiorowski leads MLB with 216 strikeouts and a 1.68 ERA, to go along with a 13-5 record and a 0.76 WHIP. The Mets faced Misiorowski back on July 20, with the Brewers closely monitoring the right-hander's workload. Misiorowski threw four scoreless innings with one unearned run on four hits and one walk while striking out six.
Sean Manaea will be taking the ball on the other side for the Mets. The left-hander has allowed four earned runs in each of his last two starts while conceding a combined five home runs in a pair of no-decisions. Manaea's ERA drifted up to 4.31 while he maintained a 4-5 record.
After winning the series opener in walk-off fashion, the Mets fell flat in an 8-1 loss to the Brewers on Wednesday night.
