That is the part supporters struggle with. Rashford has been reintegrated, given the number nine shirt and brought back into the fold. Fine. Then stand by the decision. If the club truly believe in him, they should shut the door completely. If they do not, move decisively and replace him properly. Living in the middle ground helps nobody.
The Arsenal angle would sting badly. Watching a homegrown United forward become a late option for a rival would be a brutal reflection of how muddled the club’s squad building has become. Barcelona is easier to understand because of the previous connection, but Arsenal being in the mix should set alarm bells ringing.
