One of the biggest priorities for the Eagles heading into training camp was to get an extension done with Carter, who was set to become a free agent in 2027 and has looked like one of the best defensive tackles in football since the franchise took him ninth overall in 2023.
On Tuesday, it became official. ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that the Eagles have signed their star tackle to a four-year, $152 million extension worth up to $160 million, including $106 million guaranteed.
With that deal, Carter now becomes the highest-paid defensive tackle in NFL history, with an average annual salary of $38 million — the seventh-highest AAV among any defender in the league, ahead of names like Maxx Crosby, Jeffery Simmons, Nick Bosa, and Chris Jones.

Carter is still just 25 years old and already widely viewed as one of the best defensive tackles in the NFL.
He's earned two Pro Bowl nods and second-team All-Pro honors in 2024 after posting 42 combined tackles, 12 tackles for loss, 16 quarterback hits, 4.5 sacks, six passes deflected, and two forced fumbles across 16 games.
During the Eagles' Super Bowl run following the 2024 season, Carter had nine tackles, three pass deflections, two sacks, and a forced fumble across four postseason games.
