The Los Angeles Dodgers haven’t been playing very good baseball as of late, for as much doom and gloom there’s been around MLB for their purported takeover of the sport. They have won just two of their past eight games, and they even lost seven consecutive games before they snapped that losing streak on Saturday. However, the Arizona Diamondbacks sent them back to losing ways on Sunday, with the Dodgers being on the receiving end of a 4-2 defeat.
Nonetheless, manager Dave Roberts is looking forward to putting this slump behind them, especially when they’re about to rely on two of the best southpaws in the game, Tarik Skubal and Blake Snell, to get things going in the first two games of their upcoming series against the Kansas City Royals at home.
“It’s great. On one side of it, you feel it as the home team because you feel the confidence of who you’re running out there. But on the other side, it seems daunting when you look at the probables and you see these Cy Young guys back-to-back. It’s a lot to take in as an offense. So it feels really good to have those two guys on our side,” Roberts said, per Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register.

The schedule hasn’t been very kind to the Dodgers , to be fair. They ran into a streaking Boston Red Sox team and a Chicago Cubs squad that’s been hitting its stride, and the Diamondbacks have been playing inspired baseball recently as well as they look to strengthen their hold over a spot in the NL Wild Card.
Now, the Royals represent a bit of a reprieve for the Dodgers. They have a 49-70 record at present, and they rank 28th in MLB in ERA. Their offense hasn’t been very good, either, ranking 23rd in runs scored this year.
If Skubal and Snell don’t get it done, it might be time to sound the panic button in LA. Until then, the Dodgers have too much talent for them to not be able to right the ship.
