The Miami Dolphins currently have five players on season-ending injured reserve, including defensive lineman Rene Konga, defensive end Mason Reiger, guard Jamaree Salyer, cornerback Ethan Robinson and offensive tackle Carter Warren.
However, another is set to join them, as the Dolphins waived offensive lineman James Ester with an injury designation. Ester joined the Dolphins this offseason after spending the last two seasons with the Green Bay Packers . He moved from defensive tackle to guard over the last few months before suffering an injury in practice this week. If he passes through waivers unclaimed, he'll land on injured reserve and miss the year.
To take his place on the 91-man roster, Miami signed linebacker Stephen Dix Jr., whom they recently had in for a workout. The 24-year-old played at Florida State from 2020-22, Marshall in 2023 and Arkansas from 2024-25. Between the three schools, he appeared in 59 games and recorded 277 tackles, five sacks, three passes defensed and two fumble recoveries.
Dix went undrafted this year and spent some time with the Arizona Cardinals .
