Dan Sabers, the new South Dakota Amateur Baseball Association president, is excited to get the state tournament underway. The Class B state amateur baseball tournament returns to Mitchell after a one-year hiatus.
The tournament gets underway at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5
and championship Sunday is set for Aug. 16.
"I've been passionate baseball player, fan my whole life," Sabers said.
Does he see any major changes upcoming for amateur baseball in South Dakota? He says the association needs to focus on keeping teams excited and engaged.

"That's a great question and it's something I have to do a lot of research on, what's worked for other states," Sabers said.
