Day 10 of Cleveland Browns training camp took place Saturday, August 8. We had some drama at the quarterback position, with everyone still wondering what it means.
Cleveland Browns Training Camp Report – Day 10 (8/8/26)
1. Drama Begins at the QB Position: We officially have drama at the quarterback position . Prior to Saturday’s practice, head coach Todd Monken seemed to indicate that QB Shedeur Sanders would be with the ones today. However, in actuality, it was QB Deshaun Watson getting most of the work with the ones. On top of that, some reported that QB Dillon Gabriel appeared to be getting work with the twos, and Sanders being third in line.
This was a rare six consecutive days of practice for Cleveland, and now they have an off day on Monday. Could it be a sign that Watson will be given the first week of practice as the starter leading up to next week’s preseason game? On top of that, Watson delivered a pretty solid day of practice, making that twice in three practice days that he’s looked like a respectable NFL quarterback again.
2. Fano and Verse Fight: Toward the end of practice, LT Spencer Fano and DE Jared Verse fought. It sounds like it was building during the day, and here is when they locked up:

Then, as you can see below, Fano continued egging him on by celebrating when Verse had jumped offsides:

3. Concepcion Continues to Deliver: Man, I am super excited to see what WR KC Concepcion does against live action and taking contact. Because as far as training camp goes, he has delivered in every way possible. Here he is making a great hands catch over the middle on a pass from QB Deshaun Watson :

4. Offensive Line Update: On the positive side of things, a day after returning to individual drills, C Elgton Jenkins and RG Teven Jenkins returned to team drills with the starters.
Elgton Jenkins and Teven Jenkins have returned to team drills for the Browns. Elgton at center and Teven, who was alternating reps with KT Leveston before the injury, back at right guard with the starting offense.

On the downside, RT Tytus Howard left practice early with trainers. Remember that the offensive line Cleveland assembled this year has a history of being rather durable.
5. The Confusion With the QB Situation: If I’m a fan, I don’t mind whatever decision that Todd Monken ultimately makes for who the starting quarterback is. What I don’t get is why he would, right before practice, say that QB Shedeur Sanders would get the reps with the ones today, and then completely go against that when practice started. This is when the drama began, because it was QB Deshaun Watson starting off with a pass to TE Harold Fannin . Unless Sanders reported soreness, which I haven’t seen reported, the mixed messaging from Monken is perplexing and kind of dumb.

On the bright side, talking about Watson’s good day, here is another connection he had with Fannin later in practice:

Someone did wonder if this was a way to correct the fact that there has been an imbalance in the number of padded practices in which Watson has played with the ones, but again, if that was the case, why not know or say it ahead of time?
The daily rotation has left Watson with fewer padded practices with the ones. This could be the correction. https://t.co/auQX8Bzegn

6. Use That Body: We also still remain stoked about WR Denzel Boston , as here he is using his body for a touchdown pass from QB Deshaun Watson :

7. The Final Word on Watson: After practice, a team spokesman said that Watson’s increased reps today were because head coach Todd Monken wanted him to work with certain personnel groupings. Which, again, is totally fine, but the mixed messages is still odd.
There were personnel groupings that Todd Monken wanted to see with Deshaun Watson today, which is why he worked with the first-team instead of Shedeur Sanders as was expected, per a #Browns spokesperson.

8. Brownies: DE Logan Fano exited early with the training staff. … K Andre Szmyt continues having a steady camp, connecting from 48 and 50 yards. … This was said to be the longest practice of camp thus far. … Zac Jackson noted that WR Jerry Jeudy had two drops today.
9. Up Next: The Browns will practice on Monday at 1:15 PM ET. It will not be open to the public. There are just two more sessions open to the public, this coming Tuesday and Wednesday.
