Texas has the most blue-chip prospects in the 2027 cycle
You won’t be shocked to hear this, but the state of Texas is loaded with elite football prospects. The Lone Star State remains at the top of the high school football hierarchy. The 2026 season will get going this month.
On the recruiting front, no state is producing more blue-chip talent in the 2027 cycle. As of Aug. 11, there are 49 blue-chippers (four and five-stars) that will play their senior season inside Texas state lines this fall. All but one of those 49 prospects are already committed, too.

The in-state powers are holding their ground and then some when it comes to the top prospects in the state. Texas , Texas A&M and Texas Tech have commitments from 22 of those top 49 recruits. Houston, Baylor and SMU have gotten in the mix, too.
Among those 49 blue-chippers, 10 are cornerbacks, eight are defensive linemen and seven are wide receivers. The top uncommitted prospect in the state is four-star quarterback Julian Reese II . He will announce his decision later this month.
Rivals takes a look at the top Texas prospects in the cycle and where they are currently committed ahead of football season:
1. DL Jalen Brewster — Texas Tech
School: Cedar Hill Rivals Industry Ranking: No. 1 NATL. Committed Since: Oct. 4, 2025
Scouting Summary: “Uber-athletic defensive line prospect with true game-wrecking ability. Measured in at around 6-foot-3, 300 pounds prior to his junior season. Carries his weight exceptionally well with a dense build. Tests as an elite athlete in the combine setting, easily cracking 5.0 seconds in the 40-yard dash. Carries that athleticism over to the field where he has consistent flashes of dominance on Friday nights. Lines up all over the defensive line for Cedar Hill (Texas) High while facing top competition. A dangerous pass rusher from any spot. Combines explosive get-off with the movement skills of a much smaller player, carrying elite testing numbers directly onto the field. Consistently collapses pockets and disrupts plays before they develop.
…Has legitimate game-wrecking moments on film. The quickness to dart into the backfield and the speed to hunt down ball carriers is eye-popping. Was tabbed as the Rivals MVP at the Under Armour All-America Game after his junior season. Showcased high-end functional power on top of his elite movement skills in the all-star setting. May not possess premier length. Father was a third-round pick by the Dallas Cowboys. 2. IOL Ismael Camara — Texas
School: Gilmer Rivals Industry Ranking: No. 28 NATL. (No. 3 IOL) Committed Since: July 4
Scouting Summary: “Massive offensive lineman with a high ceiling after moving to the United States from France. Checked in at around 6-foot-6, 335 pounds prior to his senior season. Arms measured at 33 inches at the Rivals Five-Star Challenge in 2025. Wide-hipped build carrying considerable mass in his lower body. Has worked to reshape his body heading into his senior year. Did not play varsity football until his junior year of high school. Works at left tackle for his high school team. Has strong functional movement skills with very good ankle flexion for such a large athlete. Nimble and can easily redirect. Has natural power and is scrappy once engaged, showing the desired mentality for an offensive lineman. Able to anchor and stop pass rushers in their tracks on contact.
…Has the physical traits to develop into a high-end blocker. Also participates in track with a 46-8.5 foot shot put. Still new to football and will need to further improve his technique. Has positional versatility and could play tackle or guard at the next level. Length is below average for top offensive tackles, but good enough. Moves better in functional settings than in a combine. Will need to watch his stamina and weight as a naturally heavier prospect. 3. IOL Kennedy Brown — Texas A&M
School: Kingwood Rivals Industry Ranking: No. 29 NATL. (No. 4 IOL) Committed Since: April 26
Scouting Summary: “Explosive and long-armed offensive line prospect with rare reach, heavy hands, and the athletic ability to dominate both phases up front. Measured around 6-foot-3, 280 pounds prior to his junior season with a wingspan over 7 feet and 11-inch hands. Tested as a good athlete in the combine setting with strong agility markers. Worked at right tackle as a sophomore before moving to left tackle as a junior. Shows excellent striking power, using his length and punch to stun defensive linemen at the point of attack. Moves easily to the second level and looks to finish blocks with effort and physicality. Missed the majority of his junior season with a lower body injury and was not active on the off-season camp circuit.
…Shorter than the typical top tackle prospect but makes up for it with elite reach and functional strength. Had some lapses in pass protection on junior film after transitioning to the left side, but the athletic traits and power profile remain evident. Could end up sticking at offensive tackle or sliding inside long-term with his length working as a compensatory factor for the shorter stature. Projects as one of the top offensive line prospects in the 2027 cycle, but remains a bit of an unknown given the missed junior season.” — Power
