South Fort Myers used a furious fourth-quarter comeback to topple Riverdale and Mother Nature decided to wreak havoc on Lee County games as the area's Friday slate were scattered to the wind.
Those were just some of the storylines from a stormy Week 2 of the 2026 high school football season in Southwest Florida.
To honor the players who stood out, The News-Press and Naples Daily News hand out their Game Balls for the top efforts each week. Here are the honorees for this week's games.
Jer'Shard Benjamin, South Fort Myers
The sophomore had six catches for 81 yards and the go-ahead touchdown and also had a game-sealing interception in the Wolfpack's 20-17 win over Riverdale.
Cameron Cusick, Aubrey Rogers
The junior caught a touchdown pass and had an interception to help the Patriots defeat Ida Baker 34-10
Andre Moss, Dunbar
Moss caught two touchdown passes and returned a kickoff 80 yards for a touchdown to help the Tigers defeat North Fort Myers 56-13.
Jaydon Henderson, South Fort Myers
The junior quarterback completed 13 of 20 passes for 190 yards and three touchdowns, including two scores in the final three minutes, as the Wolfpack rallied to beat Riverdale.
Jahyeah Holcy, Fort Myers
The Green Wave running back carried the ball 23 times for 151 yards to keep the chains moving in a Saturday morning win over Lehigh.
Gio Marenco, Gulf Coast
The senior running back had a superhuman night against Charlotte with 51 carries for 221 yards and two touchdowns.
Tony Sinatra Jr., Canterbury
The senior quarterback passed for two touchdowns and rushed for another in the Cougars 41-0 win over West Oaks.
Tim Stauffer, Golden Gate
The senior quarterback passed for one touchdown and rushed for another in the Titans' 41-12 victory over Island Coast.
