The 2027 NFL Draft will take place in Washington, D.C. next year. In that draft, the Bucs still have their first-round pick, but a lot could happen in the next nine months. Before then, though, there will be plenty of speculation and buildup about the team and who they may add to the roster through the draft in a class many are saying could be generational.
Sports Illustrated's recently released the latest 2027 NFL mock draft of the cycle, which has the team going the offensive angle as they land a new quarterback for the future. He projects them to land up-and-comer in draft cycles, Drake Lindsey out of Minnesota.
He explains the Lindsey pick, writing, "Injuries prevented Baker Mayfield and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from reaching their ceiling last season. Mayfield is now in a contract year and a similar shortcoming could convince the Buccaneers to move on. Minnesota quarterback Drake Lindsey is a prospect to watch this season. Lindsey is a big quarterback (6-5, 230) with natural arm talent."
Lindsey is a quarterback who projects as someone who will need some development. If the Bucs are starting over it could make sense for him to be paired with a head coach who can do that.
