First responders were called into action after a woman fell into the river, swept away by the fast-moving current.
Authorities warn that the Kern River is extremely dangerous, with strong currents, cold temperatures, and underwater hazards that can overwhelm even the most experienced swimmers.

A helicopter joined the search from above, finding the woman partly submerged at the base of a steep cliff, desperately clinging to the rocks as the waters rushed around her.
With some birds-eye assistance, ground teams from the fire department were able to climb down the rocks and throw her a life jacket, followed by a rescue rope, pulling her from the river to safety.
She was then evaluated by medical personnel.
