Veteran quarterback Deshaun Watson, fresh off of calling out the Browns fanbase for their "disrespectful" behavior towards him during a loss to the Buffalo Bills over the weekend, will get the start against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sept. 13.
"The whole world knows it has nothing to do about the performance," Watson said after the game. "It's a little bit [more] personal than that. So I think it's a disrespectful thing. So yeah, I mean, I'm going to keep whatever I feel with me and my family internally on how I feel about that. And yeah, just move on."
Watson gets the starting job over Shedeur Sanders despite a poor showing against Buffalo in which he completed just 5-of-12 passing.
The decision to name Watson the starting quarterback led ESPN analyst and former NFL quarterback Dan Orlovsky to suggest Browns fans " should not go to games ."

“I am shocked. I feel awful for the fans of the Cleveland Browns. I have no idea how you could witness what you witnessed in that press conference and it not be a part of your evaluation and decision," Orlovsky added to the conversation .
"I think the world of Todd Monken. I think he’s a great coach. I think the world of Andrew Berry. I think he’s put together really good football teams. I have no idea how they can make this decision."
Watson hasn't played a full season since 2020 when he started all 16 games for the Houston Texans ahead of a blockbuster trade involving the Cleveland Browns. In 19 games with the Browns, the former star quarterback struggled to regain his Pro Bowl form, throwing 19 touchdowns against 12 interceptions.
