Devin Lloyd spoke to reporters following Sunday's outing of training camp. He was asked about his recent film session with franchise legend, Pro Football Hall of Famer and—perhaps above all—well-noted tape junkie Luke Kuechly.
"He's a guy that really loves ball. So I'm grateful that he was willing to do that. Hopefully, I'm pretty sure it won't be the last time," Lloyd replied.
"But it was great. We really just talked about leadership, we talked about ball, talked about life a little bit. Really just trying to find that one percent to take my game to the next level on and off the field. And, it was a great talk."
Lloyd took his game to another level in 2025, where he earned the very first Pro Bowl selection of his four-year NFL career. Over 15 regular-season games, he posted bests in interceptions (five) and pressures (28) while helping lead the Jacksonville Jaguars to an AFC South title.
The former first-round pick has since joined the other conference's southern champs. Lloyd inked a three-year, $42 million deal with the Panthers in the spring, and will serve as the new man in the middle for an ascending defense.
And after taking in the history of that position in Carolina, Lloyd seems ready to etch his name into franchise lore.
"Yeah, I knew about Luke, I knew about Thomas Davis and then Sam Mills. I learn more about the guys—obviously, Dan [Morgan] and Jon Beason, Shaq [Thompson]. You go down the line and you look at the history of linebackers, I know I missed a couple. I learned more about it as I came here, but I already knew about some of the mainstays, some of the big names.
"And then look at it even deeper as I was here a little longer, you really realize there's a lineage of great linebacker play and that's special to be a part of."
