The San Francisco 49ers have had little to complain about when it comes to Brock Purdy. When he's healthy, he's on . He's even taken them to the big game. But, is he really an elite quarterback?
Now that the new season is just over a month away, it's the perfect time to look at the NFL's quarterbacks this year and see where Purdy stands. Bleacher Report has released a new list ranking all of the NFL quarterbacks for 2026. In it, they grade signal-callers on six categories: accuracy (25 points), processing (20), arm talent, decision-making, pocket presence (15 apiece) and leadership (10).
While this ranking calls Purdy an "established starting quarterback with plenty of postseason experience," it's not enough to get him into the highest tier of quarterbacks.
San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy ranked No. 10
Last season, Purdy only appeared in nine games, and that hurt the franchise. If he's back and healthy all season, that'll be a game-changer. Bleacher Report ranks him No. 10 in all NFL quarterbacks, which is good but not the top tier.
"He plays with immense heart and toughness, earning him a place among the NFL's winners," Bleacher Report says in a glowing review.
But, 49ers fans won't like what comes next. Bleacher Report calls Purdy a "physically limited quarterback," noting that "he's on the shorter side of the height spectrum, and his arm strength is only average."
"His decision-making declined under heavy and consistent pressure last season," they add. "He's the prototype for high-end game manager and point guard-styled QB archetypes; you can win with those styles if your roster is built properly."
So, it's a mix of good and bad. But, if he stays healthy in 2026, it will be more good.
