Pearsall, who turns 26 in September, already has an injury history on the same knee. Last season, he missed eight games with a posterior cruciate ligament injury in the same knee.
49ers general manager John Lynch said Pearsall would have the procedure “in the next couple of weeks," with the timetable for the injury being six to 12 months.
Pearsall was a 2024 first-round draft pick but has only appeared in 20 games through his first two seasons. Before the start of his rookie season, he missed six games after being shot during an attempted robbery, and last season he had a hamstring injury during the summer but overcame that to play the first four games of the season before sustaining a knee injury.
Pearsall has 67 receptions for 928 yards and three touchdowns through 20 games of his NFL career.
Before transferring to Florida, Pearsall spent three seasons with Arizona State. With the Gators, Pearsall appeared in 25 games and contributed 1,626 receiving yards and nine receiving touchdowns. He also added 175 rushing yards and three touchdowns on the ground.
