Whoever runs the junior program gets outsized influence over exactly those kinds of calls, which is worth remembering the next time a young name gets fast-tracked into one of these cars.
Lagrue described the move as the start of a new phase in his career after his lengthy run at Mercedes, saying he wants to work closely with Mekies to build on the foundation Marko left behind. Given what Red Bull's junior program already produced under Marko, and what Lagrue built at Mercedes with Russell and Antonelli, combining those two resumes under one roof won't change a single result this season, but it will shape who's actually strapped into these cars a decade from now.
