The Baltimore Ravens got some fantastic news on the first day of practice at training camp. Pro Bowl defensive tackle Nnamdi Madubuike was cleared to return after sustaining a career-threatening neck injury last season.
Madubuike was spotted in uniform ready to take part in practice Wednesday.

That's quite the development for both Madubuike and the team. After making the Pro Bowl in both 2023 and 2024, Madubuike sustained a serious neck injury during the team's Week 2 game against the Cleveland Browns last season.
Following that injury, there was concern over whether Madubuike would be able to play football again. That question lingered into April, when it was reported Madubuike underwent neck surgery that had doctors optimistic about his chances of getting back on the field in 2026.
Some cold water was thrown on that report just days before the Ravens opened training camp. On Saturday, the team placed Madubuike on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list. While the team still believed Madubuike would return in 2026, it was possible the nose tackle would need some time before returning to the field.
But Madubuike put that thought to rest by passing his physical Wednesday.
It's tough to overstate the importance of Madubuike's return in 2026. The nose tackle had emerged as one of the best in the game prior to his injury last season. His return could be enough to get the team's defense back on track. After ranking first and ninth in points against in 2023 and 2024, the Ravens plummeted to 18th in that stat without Madubuike last year.
