Comcast's Sky unveiled on Wednesday that it has commissioned "the as-yet-untitled second chapter" of original crime drama Under Salt Marsh from creator, writer and director Claire Oakley. Produced by Little Door Productions in association with Sky Studios, the six-part second series sees Rafe Spall reprise his role as the enigmatic Detective Eric Bull.
"Following the events of the first [season], Detective Eric Bull (Spall) moves to a remote Scottish mining village sinking under the weight of its own secrets, where a murder investigation brings him closer to the truth about his own past," reads a plot description. Under Salt Marsh launched in January 2026 and became the biggest Sky original drama launch since The Day of the Jackal , as well as Sky's biggest entertainment title of the year to date, reaching a 28-day audience of 2.5 million. The first season was filmed in Wales and set in the fictional North Wales village of Morfa Halen.

"It's been hugely exciting to see audiences respond to the series' rich sense of place, complex characters and compelling storytelling. With Rafe Spall returning as Detective Eric Bull, this new [season] introduces an engaging new community and mystery, while expanding the emotional and cinematic world that made the first series so special."
Under Salt Marsh is created, written and directed by Oakley, who writes alongside In-Sook Chappell, Jonathan Harbottle and Scott Graham. The series producer is Zoranna Piggott. The executive producers are Rowlands for Little Door and Oakley, with Megan Spanjian for Sky.
The second chapter of Under Salt Marsh will begin filming in Scotland in 2027 and will be available on Sky and streaming service Now in the U.K., Ireland and Italy, Sky said. NBCUniversal Global TV Distribution is handling international sales of the crime series.
