See the full story · 2 sourcesOn Tuesday, Kentucky football General Manager Pat Biondo announced he will step down from his role due to personal reasons. Below is the full statement from Biondo.
"After much thought, I have made the decision to leave UK. This is a personal move and I hope everyone will respect the private nature of such a tough decision. It has been a privilege to work for a great university, wonderful football program and on behalf of such passionate fans. I especially want to thank Coach Stein for the opportunity to work with and learn from him."
There was also a released statement from UK Athletics.
"Football General Manager Pat Biondo has informed us of his decision to step down from his role at UK. We respect his choice and the personal considerations behind it. We are grateful for his contributions to our program."
Will Stein has spoken very highly of Biondo as he was technically his first hire as Kentucky's head coach. It is unclear what direction Stein will go with this news happening right before fall camp starts. The roster has been built for this season, but roster building is something that never stops in the current landscape of college football. Now, we will have to wait and see the next steps the program takes, it could mean looking outside to hire another person with that pedigree or promoting Assistant General Manager Pete Nochta.
