This fall with iOS 27, AirPods users will gain a handful of new features .
Those upgrades will be enabled by a combination of iOS 27 changes for iPhone and the companion new firmware for AirPods. Both releases are currently in beta.
Today has brought new AirPods beta firmware with a build number of 9A5336b . It’s rolling out for AirPods Pro 3, AirPods Pro 2, AirPods 4, and AirPods Max 2.
The previous beta firmware build was 9A5314b, released nearly one month ago .
Currently, the new beta firmware is only available for developers. But a public beta version should arrive in the coming days.
In years past, installing AirPods beta updates was a complicated process involving Xcode and a Mac. But recently, Apple made the process much easier.
Users can opt into the AirPods beta from the Settings app, after which new firmware releases will automatically install in the background.
