The New England Patriots made a trade with the Houston Texans on Monday, sending young wide receiver Kayshon Boutte to the Houston Texans for Jaylen Reed and a 2028 seventh-round pick.
This was a trade to help the Patriots at a different position, as the wide receiver room has become a bit too crowded after adding A.J. Brown and Romeo Doubs.
As the Patriots continue to improve their roster on both sides of the ball, especially after head coach Mike Vrabel made some interesting comments about not having enough depth, another trade or two could be on the table.
According to the latest, the Patriots understand they need to add in certain areas, but they don't have any more obvious trade candidates after moving on from Boutte, so they may go in a different direction.
By doing so, New England could be in the market for an established veteran who can come in and make an immediate impact.
“When it comes to improving the roster, two other options exist. The first is trades, an avenue the Patriots explored Monday when they sent Kayshon Boutte to the Houston Texans for safety depth in the form of Jaylen Reed and a 2028 seventh-round pick.
“But without another obvious trade candidate, the Patriots could go the more expensive route and try to add an established veteran,” Chad Graff wrote .
It's tough to gauge what the Patriots might want.
Some reports indicate they're interested in an edge rusher.
If New England could end up with that, it would be in a very good spot before the season. The Patriots still have other ways to improve, but adding on the defensive side of the ball seems to be the biggest priority right now.
