Packers Legend Opens Up About Devastating Health Diagnosis

"I had a little bit of the feet twitching when I'm in my sleep and stuff like that," Green said on Ty Dunne's " Go Long Podcast " published Wednesday, July 29. "I mean, I knew something was going on long before [his January 2025 diagnosis]. I just got a hold of some doctors, was able to get in contact with and get the diagnostics, get the testing, and finally got it tested."
Green, 49, detailed his new diet and cleansing regimen and emphasized that he's focusing on giving his body its best chance in the face of Parkinson's.
"I'm in control; I'm not gonna let this control me," Green said. "There is some medicines that I've been taking from the doctor's side of it, so I make sure I stay on my protocol there but on my side, the food is my medicine as well."
Green said his predominant symptoms include a "trash" short-term memory, twitching when he sleeps, and sleepwalking without recollection.
"I'm ahead of it right now," Green reiterated. "For the doctors that examine me, they said, really, if they didn't know what they knew about the early signs, they would have thought I was in great, healthy condition until they really sat me down, between taking my vitals to having me walk in front of them and what they saw in my walk, in my gait, and the way my shoulders hang."
The Seattle Seahawks selected Green out of Nebraska in the third round of the 1998 NFL Draft, and he played in Seattle for his first two seasons. The Seahawks traded him to the Packers in 2000, and he became the franchise's all-time leader in rushing yards and rushing touchdowns.
The four-time Pro Bowler had two stints in Green Bay — 2000 to 2006 and his final 2009 season — with two seasons with the Houston Texans sandwiched in between. Green officially retired from the NFL as a Packer in 2011.
