Saratoga Springs Police SARATOGA SPRINGS, New York -- Police officers in New York rescued horses from a fire at the Saratoga Casino Hotel harness racetrack.
Saratoga Springs Police were dispatched to the area on June 16 where they found a barn engulfed in flames.
Officers said the heat from the fire was so strong they weren't sure if the horses in the stalls were able to breathe.
Body camera footage from the officers shows the struggle they endured during the fire.
The crew was able to rescue more than 300 horses from several different barns.
Sadly, 17 horses didn't survive and one horse suffered minor injuries.
