See the full story · 1 sourcesWith training camp for the Indianapolis Colts beginning on Wednesday, general manager Chris Ballard met with local reporters and provided injury updates on several key players.
As Daniel Jones announced while appearing on the Pat McAfee Show — and Ballard confirmed — the Colts quarterback will be a full participant in training camp practices.
"He's good to go, he's worked his butt off,” Ballard said, via the Indy Star’s Joel Erickson.
Ballard on injuries. ... Daniel Jones: Cleared. "He's good to go, he's worked his butt off." DeForest Buckner: Cleared. CJ Allen: Strained calf. "We don't think it will be long. ... We expect him back quickly." Alec Pierce: Close. Week or two away.
— Joel A. Erickson (@JoelAErickson) July 28, 2026 DeForest Buckner, who played in only 10 games last season due to a neck injury that required surgery, has been cleared as well, although a ramp-up period will be required for him.
Alec Pierce and CJ Allen are both beginning camp on the physically unable to perform list, but their absences are expected to be brief.
Pierce is still rehabbing from offseason ankle surgery, but Ballard said he is “close” to returning and could be back on the field in a week or two.
Allen is navigating a calf injury, but Ballard expects him back “quickly.” Allen will presumably be the Colts' starting MIKE linebacker this season.
