Jaylen Brown Could Face Biggest Challenge of Career With 76ers
History has a funny way of repeating itself.
Just when you think you’ve figured everything out, there’s always a new twist that you didn't see coming. For the Philadelphia 76ers , history may not repeat itself, and the only time for them to win is now. That being said, with their new additions they have to make an impact right away. Well, according to Bleacher Report , Jaylen Brown could be in for his lowest point average with his new team.
The belief is that because there are so many stars on this new roster, he could see a major decline in his game. He may not average nearly 30 points per game, but his game won't decline as drastically as they think. They are looking at Brown as if he isn’t the number one option for this team.
Everyone knows this is going to be a major adjustment with all these stars on one team. The thing is, with LeBron James conceding as the top option, it only leaves Brown, Tyrese Maxey, and Joel Embiid. For Maxey, he will be switching to a new position and be relegated to scoring. While Embiid will more than likely be looked at as a second option considering his continued health concerns . It’s just hard to trust that Embiid will be available on a nightly basis.
So that only leaves Brown. There aren't many options to look at as the primary scoring option. Besides, you don't trade for a guy like Brown if he isn’t going to be a key part of your offense. Even when Brown was with the Celtics with Jayson Tatum, he averaged more than 20 points a game.
One of the biggest questions Bleacher Report focused on was where he would get enough shots to average 20. It’s real simple when you’re playing with such a fast-paced offense . This Philadelphia team was ranked 14th on offense and managed to get over 20 jump shots made in the game. A part of Brown’s game he worked on extensively this offseason.
This will be a team that plays from the inside out. They may try to establish getting Embiid up some shots early to draw the defense in, and after that, it’s going to be a shooting spree for this Philadelphia offense. Let’s not forget the transitional shots that the team will get from defense. A side of the ball that is Brown’s specialty. Stifling defense turns into easy offense, and this team will thrive on that.
While he may not be a one-man party like his last season in Boston, Brown will still be the prolific scorer that Philadelphia needs.
