Aston Villa monitoring Bayern Munich defender Kim Min-jae
Aston Villa are monitoring Bayern Munich defender Kim Min-jae, according to German outlet tz .
Villa reportedly made contact with Min-jae during the 2026 FIFA World Cup , but he was focused on his commitments with South Korea.
The Villans reached out again to the 29-year-old last week after their pre-season friendly against Bayern. He scored in the fixture and reportedly left an ‘impression on the Europa League winners’.
He had previously rejected an approach from Nottingham Forest. It is unclear whether he is open to joining Villa.
He has two years remaining on his contract, meaning this could be the Bavarians’ last chance to sell him for a sizeable fee.
Villa are aiming to sign a new centre-back with uncertainty surrounding Ezri Konsa’s future. The England international has been linked with Arsenal .
The former Napoli centre-back could be a good addition for Villa if manager Unai Emery can get the best out of him.
Min-jae is physical, fast and aggressive. He has a strong aerial presence as well, making him a good fit for the Premier League.
Sporting director Damian Vidagany has also confirmed the club’s interest in Bayern midfielder Joao Palhinha .
Villa have agreed personal terms with Palhinha, but Bayern rejected their loan with an option to buy offer.
