Scottie Scheffler battled hard all week at the BMW Championship and, amazingly, still managed to record a top-15 finish.
Scheffler finished the week strongly after a really poor start to the tournament on Thursday.
The world number one followed up his 72 on day one at Bellerive with rounds of 65, 68 and 68 to finish in a tie for 12th.
And now that Scottie Scheffler has confirmed he has been suffering with hand, foot and mouth disease, his tie for 12th at the BMW Championship looks even more impressive.

News broke late on Thursday night that Scheffler was suffering with some kind of illness at the BMW Championship .
However, it appears as though it was no run-of-the-mill illness.
Scottie Scheffler confirms he’s suffering with hand, foot and mouth disease
Scheffler addressed the media after his final round at Bellerive on Sunday.
He was asked whether the illness he was suffering with this week was just a simple head cold.
“ No, no, I got the hand, foot and mouth, “ the world number one replied.
“ So you get blisters on your hands and in your throat and on your feet. So to start the week it was pretty painful to grip the club. If I was smarter maybe I would have pulled out, but I was playing so good I felt like if I could knock it out quickly and just get through the first couple rounds I would still have a chance.

“ But I think that’s part of my stubbornness, probably. That’s probably a strength of mine and a weakness at times. Like, I’ve never been one to ever pull out of a tournament, especially in the middle of it. That’s really frustrating for me. So I definitely didn’t want to do that going into this week, even though it was suggested.
“ But I’m proud of how I fought. Feel like I’m starting to heal up. My throat is still bugging me pretty good. But my hands feel normal today. I actually almost caught myself shaking hands with Cam on 18, I would have felt really bad. I was like, Oh, my gosh, I almost forgot.
“ So that’s good news, starting to feel better. Hopefully the throat will clear up the next couple days. “
Scottie Scheffler still not feeling 100 percent
Scheffler explained how the illness he has been suffering from really sapped the energy out of him.
“ Yeah, I felt better as the week went on. I was pretty, I got sick Monday night, “ he said.
“ That was probably the most frustrating part. Like I just, you know, playing really good golf, and you come out of the heat and get a little adrenaline, sometimes your body kind of crashes.
“ Then it hit me pretty good all week.
“ I’m still not a hundred percent now, but I’ll get some rest now and hopefully that will help. “
Hopefully Scottie Scheffler gets plenty of rest now after his exploits at the BMW Championship.
The world number one will be desperate to win the Tour Championship next week, and he’ll need to be 100 percent fit to have any chance of doing just that.
