With the season-ending injury to wide receiver Jayden Higgins , the Houston Texans realized they needed some help, which is why they decided to trade for wide receiver Kayshon Boutte from the New England Patriots.
In exchange for Boutte, Houston gave up a 2028 seventh-round pick and safety Jaylen Reed.
With Boutte now on the Texans , this drastically changes his fantasy value. In New England’s crowded receiver room with A.J. Brown, Romeo Doubs and DeMario Douglas, Boutte was no longer relevant. But as the No. 2 receiver for Houston, he is someone who can be drafted in any fantasy format.

He was the No. 2 receiver behind Stefon Diggs; the Patriots also had Hunter Henry, whom they amplified as his targets in the passing game. However, the biggest thing that held Boutte’s production back was New England’s offensive scheme.
The Texans were not a pass-happy team that season, but they still had 80 more pass attempts on the season than the Patriots. This means Boutte will have more opportunities to make plays now that he is with Houston, which means that he will probably put up more fantasy points.
Another factor to consider is how Boutte has generally been used throughout his NFL career. He was more of a big-play receiver in New England as he was third in the NFL among wide receivers in average depth per target. It would not be surprising to see Houston use him in a similar way.
So, between having greater opportunities and being used as a big-play receiver, he has a lot of potential in fantasy this year.
Of course, any big-play receiver is going to be a little more volatile in their fantasy production. But, the important thing is that his floor seems to be higher than it was in New England.
Boutte may not be someone who you are drafting in the first few rounds of the draft, but he would be a decent pickup now in the middle to late rounds.
With his current average draft position, however, fantasy managers can probably land him near the end of the draft.
