The wait for high school football is nearly over, and the anticipation couldn’t get any higher for the upcoming 2026 season.
Putting on a show and leaving it all out on the gridiron under the Friday Night Lights is on every athlete's to-do list this season across Lafayette Parish and its surrounding area. From big time hits to mind-blowing catches, there won’t be a shortage of star power on the field this season.
The Daily Advertiser sports staff has made its picks — now we want to hear from you! Who do you think deserves the title as the area's best player heading into the season? Fifty offensive and defensive players have been placed on the ballots voting for 2026 The Daily Advertiser’s Preseason Football Player of the Year.
Players were selected based on the information available to The Daily Advertiser such as last year’s stats, rankings and the Daily Advertiser’s Top 25 preseason lists. Voting will end on Sept. 2, and the will be announced in a separate story. There are no voting restrictions, so vote now and vote often. Refresh the page after each time you vote to be able to vote as often as you'd like.
