Pau Cubarsi will return to Barcelona as a hero this summer, having played a central role in Spain’s successful World Cup campaign.
Upon his return, Cubarsi will be expected to take up a more leadership role next season, particularly given that he is likely to partner another young player in Gerard Martin for the better part of next season.
Martin was key breakthrough at Barcelona last season, impressing onlookers with his performances in the centre-back role. But his performances have not gone unnoticed.

According to Gianluigi Longari , Martin has started to attract a lot of attention in the transfer market after a brilliant campaign at Barça.
AC Milan are among the clubs interested in the services of the young Spaniard, who certainly has what it takes to start for Spain as well, if he can maintain his performances.
Barcelona, though, have no desire to part ways with the young defender, knowing he has immense potential and has gelled well alongside Cubarsi.
That is why the Catalans are not entertaining offers for Martin, even though the club are in dire need of fresh revenue, as they look to remain in the 1:1 rule and sign new players in the market.
A big season ahead for Martin

The youngster has a genuine opportunity to establish himself as Barcelona’s designated left-sided centre-back, and in doing so, become a regular starter ahead of the likes of Ronald Araujo, Andreas Christensen and possibly even Eric Garcia.
That is no small feat, especially considering Garcia is also viewed as a potential option at right-back .
Should he nail down that left-sided role alongside Cubarsi, Barcelona would boast one of the most exciting young central defensive partnerships in Europe.
It is precisely why the club are so keen to hold onto him, and why they are willing to resist interest despite their pressing need for funds.
For Martin, the coming campaign represents a golden chance to cement his status as a first-team regular, and he will be determined to seize it.
