Estrela Amadora could be developing into a very interesting destination for Bayern Munich talent — thanks to a little help from some old friends.
Former Bayern Munich stars Thomas Müller, Mats Hummels, Yann Sommer and Lucas Hernández have joined an investor group that has taken over the Portuguese first-division club, with former Bayern Munich employee Johannes Mösmang becoming the club’s new president per Bild (as captured by @iMiaSanMia ).
(BFW Side Note: Imagine being Müller’s teammate in Vancouver struggling to make car payments, when your teammate is buying a football club. MLS is wild.)
Needless to say when there are such competitors within the group, the project has ambitious goals.
The new ownership group wants to establish Estrela Amadora as a consistent top-eight club in Portugal while placing a major emphasis on developing young talent. That could make the club particularly relevant for Bayern Munich.
Estrela Amadora already completed a deal for Lovro Zvonarek earlier this summer, giving one Bayern Munich prospect an opportunity to continue his development in Portugal. Now, according to Bild, the club has also shown interest in another Bayern Munich youngster, Felipe Chávez.
It is easy to see how this relationship could benefit both sides. Bayern Munich would have another potential pathway for young players to receive regular first-team football, while Estrela Amadora could gain access to promising talent and the expertise of several former Bayern Munich figures.
If the project succeeds, Estrela Amadora could become a club worth watching closely from a Bayern Munich perspective.
