Barcelona are set for a nice windfall as 20-year-old winger Jan Virgili is set to join Belgian champions Club Brugge on a permanent deal from Mallorca, according to reports in Spain.
Virgili shined in a friendly against PSG this week and caught the eye of several clubs around Europe, and Virgili reportedly chose Brugge to have a starting role in a Champions League club.
Brugge decided to activate Virgili’s €12 million release clause, and Barça reserved the right to 40% of a future transfer when they sold Virgili to Mallorca last year.
Barça will receive close to €5 million from Virgili’s move to Brugge, adding to the €4 million they got last season from the sale to Mallorca.
The winger was linked with a possible return to Camp Nou after a strong season at Mallorca with Barça holding a buy-back option, but the signings of Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi made it impossible and the Catalans will get a nice amount from his transfer to Belgium.
