Former Spurs striker Vincent Janssen is set to join the MLS. According to HNB , the now former Antwerp striker will join Portland Timbers, turning down moves from clubs in Japan, Türkiye and the Middle East. Janssen had been a key player for Antwerp after joining a few seasons ago but the club were not able to agree a deal with the former Spurs striker. Janssen has been said to be keen on a move to the MLS for some time now.
The 32-year-old Janssen broke out at AZ Alkmaar, where he scored 31 goals in just 49 games during the 2015/2016 season. This earned him a move to Spurs in the Premier League. Sadly Janssen was unable to make things work with Spurs, scoring just six goals in 42 games. With a loan spell at Fenerbahce during the 2017/2018 season, the striker left in the summer of 2019 to move to Mexico. Janssen spent four seasons with Monterrey after leaving Spurs, scoring 24 goals in 93 games.
In the summer of 2022 he joined Antwerp and in his first season scored 21 goals as the side won the domestic double. He scored double figures in all four of his seasons with Antwerp, leaving the club with 173 games played and 64 goals scored.
