The Pittsburgh Pirates are back on the national stage, the Pirates take on the Los Angeles Dodgers in the second match of a three-game set.
Getting the ball for the Pirates is Jared Jones, who is making his 15th start of the season. He pitched earlier this season against the Dodgers on June 10 at PNC Park, going four innings and giving up three hits and two earned runs as the Buccos won 9-8. He has struggled as of late, losing each of his last four starts, including his last appearance on August 15 against the Boston Red Sox. Jones pitched five innings, giving up four hits and one earned run in a 4-0 loss at home.
The Dodgers are handing the ball to Tarik Skubal for just the fourth time as a member of the team. He was acquired by the Dodgers from the Detroit Tigers in a blockbuster deal ahead of the trade deadline earlier this month. Skubal has struggled since arriving in Los Angeles, losing two of his three starts, including his latest appearance against the Milwaukee Brewers on August 16. He went six innings, giving up seven hits and one earned run in a 6-2 loss against the best team in the National League.
