Torino director Gianluca Petrachi is reportedly considering a free-transfer move for Inter defender Matteo Darmian, who is open to returning to Turin.
According to Tuttosport, Petrachi is accelerating his efforts as Darmian’s contract with Inter is due to expire on June 30. The report says Inter have already communicated their intention not to renew the agreement, opening the way for the defender’s departure.

A return to Torino would reunite Darmian with Petrachi, the sporting director credited with launching him into senior football. The proposed move would bring the 1989-born defender back to a familiar setting without a transfer fee.
A familiar face for Petrachi
Torino view Darmian as a quiet leader who can cover multiple roles in defence and on the flank. His experience could also support the development of younger members of the squad.
The report recalls Darmian’s derby goal for Torino in 2015, a moment linked to his connection with the club. Petrachi is seeking to turn the prospect of a reunion into an experienced addition for the squad.
Monza also interested
Torino face competition for Darmian’s signature. Monza are also reported to be interested, although their pursuit depends on securing promotion.
Petrachi’s aim is to reach an agreement before the end of the current campaign. Torino are therefore expected to move quickly as they look to get ahead of Monza in the race for the defender.
