Heading into the 13th season of his NFL career, Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Davante Adams said he is not sure if he will return after the 2026 season. Adams said he has not figured out a timeline for his retirement but the idea has started to enter his mind.
“I’ve given it some thought,” Adams said on retirement, per The Athletic . “It wasn’t until the past couple of years where, for different reasons, that you start to think about when the end is going to come. Right now, I’m just enjoying it. I can’t tell you if it’s going to be after this year or after next year. I truly don’t know.”
Adams' two-year, $46 million contract with the Rams expires at the end of the 2026 season.
One factor in Adams' retirement timeline is the fact that he has yet to even in play in a Super Bowl. After losing in the NFC Championship last season, Adams is 0-for-5 in conference championships throughout his career.
“It’s tough. It’s tough to talk,” Adams said to reporters after losing the NFC Championship game in January.
This season, the Rams are considered favorites to win Super Bowl LXI at SoFi Stadium. The franchise has made some big moves such as trading for defensive end Myles Garrett from the Cleveland Browns and cornerback Trent McDuffie from the Kansas City Chiefs.
With veterans like Adams and quarterback Matthew Stafford back for potentially the last seasons of their careers, this could be the year Adams not only plays in a Super Bowl but wins it.
