See the full story · 1 sourcesJust like following his rookie season, all it takes is one season to change narratives surrounding a player. After his rookie season, there was way more doubt around Caleb Williams than confidence. Heading into year 3, Caleb has totally flipped that notion on its head.
In a recent article , Jeremy Bergman analyzes Caleb Williams being ranked the 51st best player in the NFL by his peers. Here is what he had to say:
"The Iceman cameth into his own in 2025. Williams, in his first year under Bears coach Ben Johnson, proved to be one of the most clutch and elusive QBs in football, leading a league-high six fourth-quarter comebacks. After taking an NFL-worst 68 sacks in his rookie campaign, Williams was taken down just 24 times in his second season. Most impressively, aside from the highlight-reel throws and escapes, the QB led Chicago to its first division title since 2018 and first playoff win since 2010. What's next for the Madden NFL 27 cover athlete after his NFL Top 100 debut? Perhaps becoming the first Bears QB to throw for at least 4,000 yards in a season."
Year 1 was very disappointing and discouraging for a player with star capabilities. In year 2, Caleb Williams was every bit of a star. It seems evident that Caleb Williams is just scratching the surface of what he can be. That gives a great amount of hope that his success in year 2 is just the beginning of what he will achieve in the future. Right now, being a top 50 player in the NFL is very encouraging, but it is only a matter of time before he is a top 20 player and then some.
