Megyn Kelly hasn’t held back in the WNBA’s latest off-court controversy, taking aim at DiJonai Carrington’s own affluent upbringing .
Things got heated on the court when DiJonai Carrington was ejected after catching Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham with a blow to the face on a drive.
But the real drama unfolded afterward. While still in the locker room, Carrington took to social media, dropping a post that called out “white privilege” and tagged the Fever directly.
When questioned by reporters after the game, Carrington didn’t back down. She maintained the hit was unintentional and vented her frustration over what she sees as double standards, arguing that certain players get protected by refs and media while others get targeted.
She said: “Try exercising your critical thinking skills, I know you studied psych.
“Furthermore, I’m the LAST thing from ignorant or asinine when it comes to speaking on ‘white privilege,’ do ya research on that one. I actually went to school, one of the top universities might I add, to educate myself on this exact subject.
“I would never use that term as a rhetorical weapon knowing the historical and social weight it holds without having the proper evidence to substantiate it.”
Megyn Kelly exposes DiJonai Carrington’s past
The Megyn Kelly show posted a clip of a snippet from Kelly’s show on X, sharing an insight into exactly where the DiJonai Carrington we see on our screens has come from.
“Her privilege claim, okay. This woman, her dad was in the NFL, and apparently was like really good. A standout safety in the NFL, who played in not one but two Super Bowls during his eight-year professional career. Her mother, Victoria, was a star track athlete. She attended Horizon Christian Academy, a private K through 12 school in San Diego. It closed in 2018, but her tuition there averaged between 8 and 11 thousand dollars a year. Modern day estimates would put that around $17k for kindergarten, up to $20k a year for high school. She attended Stanford University and finished up her college career at Baylor.”
Some of you may recognise her dad, Darren Carrington, a defensive back who played for the Denver Broncos, Detroit Lions, San Diego Chargers, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Oakland Raiders.
