The NFL season is quickly approaching, and the Cincinnati Bengals ' Ja'Marr Chase enters as one of the best wide receivers in the league.
He finished last season third in the NFL with 125 receptions and fourth with his 1,412 receiving yards. Chase was tied for 11th in the league with eight receiving touchdowns, and based on his recent comments, he has made it his goal to score even more.
"Honestly, man, the only goal that I have for myself going forward is just to get 23 touchdowns. ... I want to break the record with that," Chase said while speaking with NFL Network .
"That's not my full goal every day. My goal is to be better the next day than the last day. Try to get my team better than what they was the last day," he also shared.

That record of 23 single-season receiving touchdowns belongs to all-time great Randy Moss, who set it in 2007 with the New England Patriots alongside the legendary Tom Brady.
That would mean Chase needs to get at least 24 receiving touchdowns in an upcoming season to set the new record. That seems achievable, since Chase tallied 17 receiving touchdowns in 2024, the most so far in his career with the Bengals.
He also has his quarterback, Joe Burrow, back on the field after being sidelined with an injury for part of last season and only appearing in eight games for the Bengals.
In Burrow's limited appearances last season, he threw for 17 touchdowns. Chase had a couple of two-touchdown games and would likely need several multiple-touchdown games this coming season to break the record.
And interestingly enough, if he's healthy and plays all season, he gets to play one more regular-season game than Moss did when he set the record in 2007.
After this month's training camp and preseason slate, Chase can get started toward achieving his goal when the Bengals host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, Sept. 13.
