Peralta came over to the Mets from the Milwaukee Brewers in a big offseason deal, but has since disappointed in New York. With the Mets firmly out of playoff contention, they now send Peralta to the AL-leading Rays, who hope to bolster their rotation.

Peralta is in the midst of a career-worst season, as his 4.99 ERA ranks among the worst marks for qualified starting pitchers. He has not posted an ERA that high since 2019, his second year in the majors, when he primarily worked out of the bullpen for the Brewers.
