Philadelphia 76ers head coach Nick Nurse responds to Kevin Durant’s take on the team.
The 2026-27 NBA season is yet to begin, but Houston Rockets star Kevin Durant has already hailed the Philadelphia 76ers as the team to beat.
Additionally, KD compared the current 76ers roster to the iconic 2016-17 Golden State Warriors team and asked the fans to treat them similarly. After all, the 2016-17 Warriors were considered unfair.

Nick Nurse has a simple response to Kevin Durant
Since KD’s comments, Draymond Green and Klay Thompson have been very vocal, and now 76ers head coach Nick Nurse has joined the conversation.
Nurse essentially downplayed the comparison during an interview with NBC Sports Philadelphia.
“Championship teams have a lot of similar characteristics,” Nurse said. “And the first thing is, is we need to get to work, right? I really still put hard work and work ethic and all that stuff at the top of the list if you want to win.”
He added, “Are we going to outwork our opponents, right? Are we going to watch better film, more film, spend more hours?”
In a way, Nurse agreed with Durant, but also pointed out that no matter how talented a roster is, it won’t win the NBA Championship without an elite work ethic.
