Arizona Cardinals rookie quarterback Carson Beck received rave reviews after a strong preseason debut against the Carolina Panthers, including glowing remarks from Hall of Famer Kurt Warner.
While speaking on the "Bickley & Marotta" show, Warner said he liked what he saw from the team's third-round pick, even admitting some of what Beck did reminded him of himself on the field.
"Obviously, he looked the part. Made big throws down the field. Comfortable in the pocket. I love how he throws the football, you know? It reminds me a little bit of how I used to play," he said.
"You watch him, and he doesn't try to overpower anything. He understands how to make big throws and make it easier on the guys around him," Warner explained , adding, "So I thought he was in full control. I thought he looked really, really good, and I'm excited to see, you know, moving forward what that means for him."

Beck played only the first half of the Cardinals' first preseason game, which coincidentally was the annual Hall of Fame Game in Ohio. Cardinals legend Larry Fitzgerald will be enshrined this weekend and caught passes for two seasons from Warner, who is already in the Hall of Fame.
Beck's impressive half of football included a 96-yard drive that finished with a rushing touchdown for Arizona. He also threw one touchdown pass, after completing 15 of 19 passes for 188 yards. While the third-round pick was sacked once, he seemed steady and capable, although this was still a preseason game.
He would sit out the second half as backup Kedon Slovis came in. Slovis completed 9 of 10 passes for 106 yards and a touchdown in his first preseason action. However, the Panthers would go on to seize the win 33-30 in the final seconds, thanks to a rushing touchdown by their quarterback Haynes King.
Still, Beck's performance has people talking, and he has previously shown leadership ability, helping the Miami Hurricanes advance through the College Football Playoff to the National Championship Game.
In addition to Beck, the team has No. 3 pick Jeremiyah Love, who is likely to see a lot of playing time in the coming season as part of the offense. Meanwhile, Beck remains on the team's depth chart as the third-string quarterback behind starter Jacoby Brissett and his backup, Gardner Minshew, but based on Warner's remarks, it could be a matter of time before Beck finds himself in the starting job.
